FULL REVIEW

CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS
The Rubicon earns a perfect score in this area based on Spyderco’s choice of premium materials (CPM S30V, Titanium, and Carbon Fiber), which aid in the unsurpassed durability of this beautiful, lightweight knife. The Spyderco Rubicon is actually so lightweight that I actually freaked out and thought I dropped it a couple of times—but it was still in my pocket.

EASE OF USE
Considerable attention was paid to the ease in which the Spyderco Rubicon functions from the decision to make it a flipper, to choosing to hollow grind the blade. The only issue comes up when you’re not using the knife at all—the clearance on the pocket clip is so tight that it’s almost impossible to stick into your pocket, however this can be remedied with some brute force.

STEEL QUALITY/EDGE RETENTION
The Spyderco Rubicon features CPM S30V which is corrosion resistant and rarely needs to be sharpened. The spear point blade and hollow grind aid in the edge retention.

DURABILITY
I actually thought about hitting the Rubicon with a baseball bat across my backyard to see if anything would happen to it but I abused it enough through my standard testing to prove that this knife excels in both form and function. Do not be afraid to dig a hole in the dirt with it, then wipe it off and wear it with your best suit or tux.
