Smartwool PhD Seamless Strappy Bra Review
June 11, 2018The Good
- Super soft & comfortable
- Warm material good for cold weather
- Seamless design minimizes chafing
The Bad
- Thin straps cut into shoulders
- Minimal support
- Not breathable for warm conditions
Comfort
The Smartwool PhD Seamless Strappy Bra was one of the most comfortable sports bras in the test group. Testers said the bra was ”super comfy” and a top pick for “lounging around the house” on recovery days or after a hard workout.
Fit / Mobility
Some of the testers reported that the fit of the Smartwool PhD Seamless Strappy Bra was slightly too big for the sizing. The fabric is soft and stretchy and does not stay in place. Though the stretch of the fabric makes it easy to put on and take off and is a comfortable fit, it does not move as well as others in the test. Testers recommend this bra for minimal movement activities.
Support
The stretchy fabric of the Smartwool PhD Seamless Strappy Bra is more comfortable than it is supportive. “The bra doesn’t give much support even for an A-cup runner,” one tester said. “This bra is super comfortable and is better for easy days, not workouts.”
Breathability
The merino wool inner layer is wonderful for staying warm in colder weather. It is also great for wearing again and again without washing and still does not get stinky. However, the warmth of the material makes it less breathable than other bras in the test. Wool does maintain heat when it gets wet, and it does dry quickly, so testers felt it is probably better for cold temperatures.
Style / Design
Next to its comfort, the style and design of the Smartwool PhD Seamless Strappy Bra is where testers said this bra stands out. It’s simple scoop neck and thin straps were appreciated and some testers like the color options. The padding in the bra was another stylistic attribute that some testers like. It looks good under a t-shirt and was a favorite sports bra for all-day wear.
