Patagonia Switchback Bra Review
June 11, 2018

The Good
- Open back cross strap design
- Great combination of style & function
- Comfortable & moves well
The Bad
- Minimal Support
- Feels like a bathing suit top
Comfort
The Patagonia Switchback Bra excels in comfort. Testers said the material was soft and stretchy, which made it easy to put on and take off. The elasticity of the straps and chest band were tight enough to be supportive, but flexible enough to maintain superior comfort.
Fit / Mobility
A key element of this bra is its simplistic design that allows for maximum mobility. The Patagonia Switchback Bra stayed in place while testers were running and working out. The fit was comfortable and felt good in just about all sports from running to yoga, cycling and working out at the gym. The cross back straps stayed in place and did not cut in uncomfortably for the most part. “This sports bra offers great fit and style,” one tester said, “but it may chafe with a lot of sweating. I could not tell, but there was definitely pressure along lowest strap after long run.”
Support
Even with the thin and lightweight material, this bra offered just enough support required for high impact sports and running. Support is considered light for a running bra. Though our A/B testers do not need maximum support, the Patagonia Switchback Bra was plenty for the test group. Although testers agreed it most likely would not be sufficient for fuller cup sizes.
Breathability
The minimal back material and cross straps were ideal for keeping the back cool in warm weather conditions. The lightweight material breathes well and the fabric is moisture wicking. “This bra feels almost more like a bathing suit than a sports bra,” one tester said. “It dries quickly when it gets wet with sweat.”
Style / Design
Most of our A/B cup testers prefer removing the padding of sports bras, though this bra seemed to have the best option for those who like a little padding. “The front and padding is cute and flattering, without being too much,” one tester said. “I like the way the straps look in the back. Color and pattern is neutral yet stylish.” The Patagonia Switchback Bra comes in a variety of colors and patterns and that combined with the design made this sports bra one of the favorites for style without compromising performance. ‘It’s fabulous for all activities,” one tester said.
