myCharge RazorPlus 3000 Review
March 31, 2016The Good
- Rugged durability
- Best power per ounce
- Best power per size
The Bad
- High cost per minute of power
- Low overall battery life
The myCharger RazorPlus 3000 is outstanding portable charger in nearly every measure, and best overall in the micro size category.
Battery Life
The myCharge RazorPlus delivered a respectable 92 minutes of battery life in our intensive, ‘real world’ tests. Discharge rate however is approximately 33% slower than the average for other chargers.
Power/Size
Power/size and power/weight ratios for the myCharge RazorPlus 3000 are best-in-class among micro size chargers. While the Powercell’s battery life is only 1/3 the battery life of the Incipio 4000 and roughly 1/2 the battery life of the Ventev PowerCell 3015c, the RazorPlus delivers more than 3 times the power per ounce and cubic inch than either model.
Durability
The myCharge RazorPlus is engineered from high-quality, aircraft grade aluminum, and withstood impact, torsion, and compression tests quite well. The aluminum casing did dent under higher stress impact tests, but not considerably.
Features
The RazorPlus offers 1 amp output and integrated power level indicators. Though the lack of integrated USB/micro-USB cables helps achieve it’s extremely small size, the myCharge could benefit from an integrated cable, similar to the Incipio’s Offgrid 4000 or the Ventev 3015c.
Value
The extremely small size and light weight of the myCharge RazorPlus come at a cost, which impacts overall value scores. But the quality and durability provided by the RazorPlus make this charger an excellent buy.
