THE VERDICT

Incipio’s offGRID 4000 provides excellent battery life for it’s 4000mAh capacity and is a great deal for that amount of power. It also has a great containment system to manage those otherwise unruly cables. Unfortunately, it's large and heavy compared to the other similar products in this test. It's best suited for day trips where size and weight aren't as much of a concern.

FULL REVIEW

Battery Life
The Incipio offGRID 4000 survived for a full 268 minutes under our extremely intensive (see below) battery life tests, earning it best-in-class for the micro size category. Discharge rate is on par with industry averages for competitive devices.

Power/Size
The offGRID 4000 isn’t as small or as light as others in the test like the myCharge RazorPlus 3000, the LithiumCard, or the Ventev PowerCell 3105c. It does not fit well in a wallet or hide indiscreetly in a pocket. Still, it delivers great battery life and performance for its size, sitting respectably in the middle of the pack of all devices tested.

Durability
Durability for the offGRID 4000 is average. The offGRID is constructed from a decent plastic/polycarbonate with a thin rubber-coating over most of the device which provides some impact resistance and improves grip to keep it from slipping out of loose hands. The offGRID handled our elementary impact, torsion, and compression tests well, but we did not subject it to more advanced/extreme measures due to the stress observed during initial tests.

Features
Like all devices tested, the offGRID offers standard 1amp charging and integrated power level indicator lights. Where the offGRID differs, however, is by including a rubber-band around the case that neatly holds the USB and micro-USB charging cable.

Value
In terms of battery life and power/performance for each dollar spent, Incipio’s offGRID 4000 is not only tops for its size class, it actually delivers twice the power for each dollar spent for any other device the micro charger category. The Incipio offGRID 4000 is a great portable charger for whom size and durability are less of a concern.
