myCharge HubPlus Review
February 18, 2016The Good
- Fast 3.4 amp charging
- Integrated charging cables
- Integrated wall outlet plug
- Above-average power to size/weight ratios
The Bad
- Low overall battery life
- Average durability
- Average power per dollar spent
While the HubPlus is pricy and doesn’t excel in battery life, its integrated charging cables and wall outlet plug make this an extremely useful and convenient device. It is not a good device for intense trekking or camp activity, but excels for general/everyday use, and leisure travel.
Battery Life
Overall battery life for the HubPlus is above average, offering 336 minutes of power in our intensive ‘real world’ tests. The HubPlus also offers 3.4amp discharge — unique among mid-size devices — and charges devices faster than any device tested.
Power/Size
Power-per-cubic inch and power-per-ounce ratios are also above average for the HubPlus. In our rankings, the HubPlus was in the middle of all mid-size devices tested.
Durability
The casing on the HubPlus is constructed of a more consumer-grade high-density plastic. In our tests, the casing damaged easily in low and mid stress drop and impact tests. Still, the HubPlus should be durable enough for general/everyday use, and leisure travel.
Features
In terms of features and utility, it is hard to top the HubPlus including a 3.4 amp USB charging port (unique among all competitors); integrated power level indicators, lightning, micro-USB cables, and wall outlet plug.
Value
In terms of cost and battery life per dollar spent, the HubPlus is only average, and ranks in the middle of all mid-size devices tested.
