THE VERDICT

The Anker PowerCore 13400 is for anyone focused on battery life and value. This comes at the cost of being a little heavy and not as durable as others in this test.

FULL REVIEW

Battery Life
The Anker PowerCore 13400 delivers best-in-class battery life among all mid-size portable chargers tested.  In our intensive ‘real world’ tests, the PowerCore provided over 701 full minutes of power.  Discharge rates, however, were 20% slower than industry averages.

Power/Size
The PowerCore earned second-place among mid-size portable chargers for power per cubic inch and power per ounce.

Durability
The housing on the Anker PowerCore 13400 is made of quality aluminum, which gives it a very sleek design.  The aluminum however is largely more for design purposes, and is not as rugged as other devices. In our tests, the PowerCore provided average durability, but the metal did dent somewhat easily during impact tests. This may be more of an ascetic issue. We believe the PowerCore to be more than durable enough for general/everyday use but it will readily show wear and tear.

Features
Like many devices in its size category, the Anker PowerCore 13400 offers both 1 amp and 2.1 amp charging, as well as integrated power level indicators.

Value
In terms of battery life and power per dollar spent, the Anker PowerCore 13400 is tops in its size category.
