K2 Poacher 2017 Review
October 22, 2016The Good
- Fun, easy to ski
- Super quick edge to edge
- Playful
- Maneuverable
- Flat out ripper
The Bad
- Can be over skied
- Loses some stability at higher speeds
- Don't load the tail on hard snow
- Not for ex-racers
- More fun and finesse than power
Wow, what a fun, ripping, energetic all-mountain ski. K2's Poacher 96 is easy to ski all day in a variety of terrain where it is super responsive and easy to steer. This ski is more about finesse and playfulness than power, at an excellent price for lift-served skiers everywhere.
K2’s Poacher 96 may be the steal of this category. It’s effortless to ski, with All-Terrain Rocker for ease of initiation, and a Tapered Tip and Tail that channels power right to the waist, and creates a huge sweet spot for on-demand control. Wonderfully balanced, playful and maneuverable, it’s a ski that will satisfy a wide variety of skiers.
The harder chargers in our test team felt it washed out at high speeds on the groomers, and was light enough to get bounced around in deeper snow. It is a lot of ski for such a low price, just about guaranteed not to wear out your wallet at the shop or your legs on the hill.
