Blizzard Bonafide Ski Review 2017 Review
October 22, 2016The Good
- Awesome hold
- Super precise
- Powerful and confident
- Best stability
- Loves high speeds
The Bad
- Not much for float
- Sinks a little in deeper snow
- Not for the faint of heart
- Better on best or hard snow
- Needs to be driven
Blizzard's Bonafide is one of the best hard charging all mountain skis we'ver ever tested, season after season. It has superior edge hold, unshakeable stability, and a damp, smooth skiing sense of confidence at high speeds. It lacks enough float for deeper snow, and is best suited to aggressive technical skiers who will be thrilled at the level of craftsmanship beneath their feet.
How good is the Blizzard Bonafide? Half our test team rated it their “Favorite” ski in the All Mountain category. Featuring Blizzard’s Flipcore Technology, the Bonafide has just enough tip and tail rocker to make it easy to initiate in a variety of conditions, and enough camber underfoot to provide superior grip and hold once you are in a turn. Especially once you are in a high speed turn. This ski is brimming with confidence, with a balanced flex pattern and predictability that never lets you feel as if you’re going too fast or losing control.
It does not have enough float for deeper snow, prefers longer arcs, and does reward strong technical skiers who will drive this ski in every condition and on every turn. As one of those more aggressive skiers said of the Bonafide, “Can I just keep testing it for the rest of the year?”
