THE VERDICT

The Women’s Flagship is the ultimate snowboard built for confident women who want to ride advanced terrain. The board is on the most aggressive end of the spectrum for women’s riding and will satisfy the need for speed and a stable ride.  Beware of upgrading to this board before you are ready.

FULL REVIEW

The Jones Women’s Flagship is leading the industry in female-specific boards designed to handle advanced riding over technical terrain. The board utilizes the same design, materials, and construction as the Jones Flagship, which is the cornerstone of the company’s line, but the women’s version is customized for lighter and smaller riders. This is the board that charges in hard-pack, plows through crud, and floats in powder. Although the Women’s Flagship is top of the line for an advanced rider, it is not as playful as other boards in the test and may be too much board for some.

Handling
This board handles better than any other board in its class. With camber underfoot and more rocker in the tip than tail, the Women’s Flagship is a highly responsive and maneuverable big mountain board.

Pop + Energy
Though this board is incredibly stiff, especially for a women’s board, the triple density full wood core with hardwood beech stringers allows for a surprisingly good pop. It’s not designed for the park, but is fun for hitting natural terrain.

Float
New for 2017, a scooped out section on the nose that lifts the tip edge called “spoon technology” offers superior float. That combined with the blunt nose and rockered tip helps keep the nose up in crud and powder.

Versatility
This board handles well in all conditions, which is its best attribute. From high-speed stability to slashing powder and carving turns the Flagship stands out in a variety of conditions. One tester called the Women’s Flagship a “crud buster” while another said it “made the (variable) snow feel like butter.”

Edge Hold
Thanks to traditional camber under foot and a mellow magne-traction for additional contact points, the Flagship offers superior edge hold on the steeps and icy snow, and carries speed well.

Sustainability/Craftsmanship
New for 2016, the Women’s Flagship uses no ink on the top sheet by burning graphics.  All Jones boards are made with ABS recycled plastic sidewalls and recycled steel edges. Built in Austria, the Women’s Flagship feels rugged and durable. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this board goes to 1% for the planet and Protect Our Winters. Jones Snowboards fights climate change with a rainforest reforestation initiative. The company donated enough money to Community Carbon Trees to plant nearly 400 trees last year.
