Behind the scenes here at the Gear Institute, our climbing test director Chris Van Leuven has been working on an ascent of the Titan, the largest of the Fisher Towers in Utah, and the largest freestanding tower in the U.S. CVL and his partner climbed the Sundevil Chimney route, and it took took them five days of work over two weeks getting it together. They decided to do it big wall style and brought a tent, but ended up bivying on a ledge that was too small (see photo, 800 feet up). CVL has been testing climbing harnesses for us enroute.
