Lululemon Lock ’em Down Boxer ReviewJanuary 6, 2016
- Fast dry
- Supportive & stable
- Too snug to wear all day
When it comes to a pair of boxers for getting sweaty and maybe a little crazy these are the ones we’d want on. They were the fastest drying boxers in the test, soft next to skin with no irritating seams or tags and were by far the most supportive. They didn’t ride up or shift no matter what we were doing. But all that Lycra made them a little too snug to wear when we weren’t exercising.
Lulu made these with their proprietary Luxtreme fabric. It’s a wicking synthetic that did a great job of keeping our important bits dry until about an hour into a Bikram class. On less sweaty pursuits they managed the sweat well enough that we rarely felt soggy at the end.
After Bikram the Luxtreme pulled the moisture to the outside of the boxer where it dried pretty fast. The lightweight fabric didn’t seem to hold moisture, feeling light even when moist.
These were the most comfortable boxers to wear doing demanding physical activities. Lots of Lycra kept them in place. Often we find boxers shifting around when we run, but not these. They also kept the frank and beans secured—we imagine it’s like the sports bra of boxers.
All the compression that keeps them in place so well makes these feel a little snug. While the other boxers could be worn all day we found ourselves only pulling these out for workouts. That said the seams were soft and never irritated and the fabric felt soft next to skin.
These boxers provided descent temperature management. Because they wick so well, we never got chilled from being wet, but heading out for cold morning runs they didn’t add a lot of warmth.
