Elan Amphibio 84 Ti 2017 Review
October 13, 2016The Good
- Quick and nimble
- Easy to initiate
- Fast edge to edge
- Smooth flex
- Fun to carve
The Bad
- Skis short
- Not much for long turns
- More damp than responsive
- Smaller sweet spot
- Not exceptionally versatile
Elan's Amphibio 84 Ti is a quick turning, smooth carving ski, with a damp feel on the snow and an ability to move swiftly from edge to edge. It does not perform as well in longer turns or at higher speeds, and is best suited for groomed snow skiers who love to carve.
Elan’s Amphibio 84 Ti features the brand’s aysmmetrical design with a designated left and right ski. The inside edge of each ski has a perfect mix of rocker in the shovel for easy, quick turn initiation, with Elan’s more traditional RST sidewalls for power and control underfoot. This results in a smooth turn that is easy to access, especially for skiers who prefer tight carves.
Try to wind the ski up for high speeds, or drive it off-piste, and that performance diminishes. Most of our testers felt the ski was easy to overturn in those situations, and “skied short.” This is an excellent choice for intermediates and advanced skiers who like groomers and effortless short swing arcs.
