Travelers looking for a versatile, convenient, and highly packable daypack to take with them on their next adventure will definitely want to check out the Daylite 16 from Matador. Not only will this bag allow you to carry all of your essentials for a day out on the town or the trail, it can also be reduced down to the size of an apple for easy storage as well.
Made from durable, puncture resistant and waterproof materials, the Daylite 16 offers a surprising amount of storage capacity for such a compact design. The pack features two organizational compartments for keeping your belongings safe and secure, while providing the wearer with 16L of storage for items like cameras, snacks, extra layers of clothing, and other gear. The pack also includes two side pockets suitable for water bottles, shoulder straps made from breathable materials designed to keep the wearer cool, and weather-proof zippers that keep moisture from reaching the interior of the bag.
Of course, that basic description could be used for numerous other travel packs as well and doesn’t really explain what sets this one apart from the competition. But probably the best feature of the Daylite is its ability to fold up and pack into its own included – and attached – stuff sack, which compresses it down so small that it can actually fit in the palm of your hand. And since the pack weighs a mere 4.1 ounces, it isn’t exactly bulky or heavy either.
As a frequent traveler, I often find myself hitting the road with a piece of luggage and a daypack designed for carrying a laptop, tablet, and other important items that I’ll need once I reach my final destination. But those are also items that I won’t necessarily need to carry with my everywhere I go, so as a result, that daypack may not be the most efficient for all my activites. The Daylite is meant for taking it on short hikes or exploring urban settings, something that a more traditional travel pack may not be the best option for.
With the Daylite I could compress the pack down to its incredibly small sizej too, tossing it into my luggage and giving me a second option once I reach my destination. It’s small size and weight means that you don’t have to compromise or sacrifice in any way, particularly since it doesn’t add much in the way of weight. That certainly makes this bag an attractive option, even to someone who has a number of other – more full featured – packs at his disposal.
The Daylite 16 is also priced right to serve as a secondary back-up pack too. At just $49.99 it is almost an impulse item for someone who travels as frequently as I do. Having a lightweight bag that can pack down to such a small size would certainly come in handy on just about every trip, making it extremely tempting to pick one up.
