Rudy Project Tralyx Sunglasses Review
June 19, 2018The Good
- Comfortable
- Photochromic lenses are fantastic
- Interchangeable lenses
- Adjustable temple and nose pad
- Rugged and durable
The Bad
- Wish sunglasses came with a cord
- Flimsy Frame
Fit
The Tralyx have a light-weight feel, gripping temples and nose pads that keep the frame in place during intense activities. The adjustable nose pad and temples provide the perfect fit and the wrap around style added to the overall fit.
Comfort
The Tralyx provides a comfortable and light-weight feel and the adjustable nose pad and temples allowed me to dial in the fit to get just the perfect feel.
Lens
The Tralyx allows the user to use a variety of interchangeable lenses with the Rudy Project quick change system. I found the lenses to be very durable, not scratch, provide clear vision in a wide field of view and the photochromic lens to adjust quickly and smoothly. I found the photochromic lens to work well in bright sun as it changed quickly and provided excellent protection in bright sun, snow and partly sunny conditions. When in cloudy conditions or under trees that blocked the sun, instead of having to remove the sunglasses to see detail, I found the lenses would change quicker than any photochromic lens I have used and would allow me to continue to wear the sunglasses as the lens would become almost completely clear.
Coverage
The Tralyx has a good wrap design which blocks wind and sun from the sides and performed well in climbing, hiking or cycling.
Features
The Tralyx are chalked full of technical features including Rudy Project PowerFlow ventilation system that provides air flow vents in the frame which increases airflow and battles fogging. An adjustable nosepiece and temples add to the overall comfort of the sunglasses by allowing the user to dial in the perfect fit. The Tralyx allows for interchangeable lenses to fit a variety of needs and styles and an optional impact resistant photochromic lens which may be the best photochromic lens I have used to date.
