The ENVE brand is synonymous with the highest quality bicycle carbon wheelsets and cockpit components, but they are also known for atmospheric pricing. Today, the Utah brand announced the release of their ENVE Alloy Mountain Stem, bringing the ENVE experience within reach of more riders with an MSRP of $125.
Production of high-end carbon componentry demands equally high-quality molds, and ENVE has a history of doing both in house. The expertise required to produce the machined aluminum or steel molds used to manufacture carbon wheels was first leveraged to make the ENVE rim and disc brake compatible wheel hubs. Aluminum stems are a natural expansion and one that will surely appease ENVE fans with more modest budgets. These new stems will not be produced in the Ogden facility due to lack of capacity; instead, they will be forged and machined through a carefully scrutinized manufacturing partner.
The ENVE Alloy Mountain Stems are premium-grade components, specifically designed to pair with carbon handlebars. All handlebar interfacing surfaces are smoothly beveled, while the faceplate features a “no gap” design, both aimed at reducing the chances of damaging sensitive carbon laminates during installation. The stems also feature blind steerer clamp bolt holes, smooth contours on the back to protect knees and shorts, and corrosion-free stainless-steel hardware.
The ENVE Alloy Mountain Stem comes in 31.8mm and 35.0mm clamp diameters, both in zero degrees of rise, in 35mm, 50mm, and 65mm lengths.
