Though none of the harnesses we tested this spring broke the 90s, the Orion came closest with a score of 88 out of 100. Tester Mike Schneiter professed that it was one of the most comfortable harness in the group, with smooth adjustments and easy-to-use gear clips. But at $124.95 (MSRP; the highest-priced harness in our test), it comes at a price.

Petzl Sama
Simplicity reigns supreme with the Petzl Sama, a harness built for sport climbers who want to keep things easy, comfortable, and lightway. The one easy-to-adjust buckle sits at the waist, complimented by elastic leg loops, which made it a breeze to put on—but may not let you dial the fit as well as you could if the leg loops had buckles.

Black Diamond Momentum 3S
With a score of 87, this second-highest-rated harness is also one of the less expensive in our round-up, with an MSRP of only $60. The entry-level harness boasts speed buckles to help deliver a super-snug fit, and provided comfort that was almost as good as the much more expensive Orion. The small gear loops on the Momentum 3S do limit functionality, however.
