The cool thing about Polartec’s new Power Wool fabric is not just that it’s a wool-polyester hybrid, offering the durability boost of polyester and the on-skin softness and funk resistance of wool. Other baselayer hybrids can boast the same qualities. What sets Power Wool apart is that the wool is the way the fabric is constructed—the wool and polyester are separated, so that the interior parts of the baselayer that contact your skin are soft and stink-resistant wool, and the exterior (where the abrasion and wicking needs to happen) is tough, faster-wicking polyester. Among the early adopters in Fall 2015, Under Armour will lead the pack with six styles, including the Charged Wool Trek, seen here.
