The ubiquitous nature of fitness watches today makes it difficult for makers to differentiate their products from the crowd. Pulse does that, though, but offering a strong array of features at a great price.
The new Polar Ignite provides waterproof protection in a wrist-based heart rate with an integrated GPS. This combination of features proves invaluable for everyone from general recreationists to hard-core trainers. The watch gives athletes all the data needed to monitor their workouts, while casual recreationists can keep track of their performance during routine hiking outings.
Thanks to the integrated GPS tracking, the Ignite recorded speed, distance, route, and altitude variances of each workout. The Ignite also provided easy access to daily step counting and calorie burning, while calculating your personal recovery time and readiness based on recorded data. For instance, we found that the Nightly Recharge recovery measurement was helpful in tracking our sleep patterns and their influence on our daily activity. And the Serene breathing exercise setting helped our casual athletes learn better respiration cycles to achieve more efficient workouts.
The Polar Ignite’s battery life was reasonable – we found the watch functioned perfectly for two or three days of active use (duration was partially dependant on ambient weather conditions and the number of times it was accessed via the Bluetooth-linked app).
The Polar Ignite sells for $230. Buy now.
