Oboz Footwear, founded in 2007 in Bozeman, Montana, has launched their new Cottonwood Collection. This collection is described as their most responsibly sourced line of hikers to date, incorporating recycled, bio-based materials, and responsibly sourced leathers and trims. The development of the Cottonwood Collection aligns with Oboz’s broader environmental goals, especially after achieving B Corp Certification in 2023, which underscores their commitment to acting as a force for good by focusing on community, climate, and circularity.

“There are so many elements that go into the production of footwear and with the Cottonwood we’ve worked to create a new level of sustainability while retaining the durability, comfort, and fit our customers expect of us,” said Abigail Cook, Oboz Marketing and ESG Manager. “While we celebrate the Cottonwood’s launch, it is only a step, though a large one, towards making the most earth friendly shoes we can.”

The Cottonwood hikers, available in both men’s and women’s styles, in low and mid cuts priced at $155 and $165 respectively. The footwear features ISA LITE (Low Impact To the Environment) full-grain nubuck leather uppers, produced to minimize chemical, water, and energy use. The collection also boasts components made from 100% recycled polyester, including laces, lining, and webbing, and utilizes bio-EVA (containing 30% sugarcane) in its midsoles and 15% regrind rubber in its Trail Tread outsoles.

Oboz claims an improved performance of its waterproof and breathable B-DRY system while incorporating more eco-friendly materials, including 50% recycled polyester in the lining and a PFC-Free durable water repellent finish. The Cottonwood Collection, which aims to balance sustainability with the brand’s standards for durability, comfort, and fit, is now available through Oboz’s website and worldwide retailers.
