Scott Black Majic Review
September 22, 2016The Good
- Fun ski
- Eats up terrain with little effort
- Turns are automatic
- Responsive
- Easy to ski
The Bad
- Also easy to over edge
- Doesn't like to be pushed
- Better for stand-up skiers than skiers who like to load the edge
- Less performance at higher speeds
- Not for anyone skiing ice
As one tester so eloquently said of the easy-to-access fun factor of Scott's Black Majick, "It's great for someone looking for a frontside ski without the full race construction feel."
Scott’s Black Majick is a subtle ski, with a wide enough tip (and just enough tip rocker) and a wide enough waist for you to take awhile to realize just how easy it is to make a turn. Forgiving, even playful, which is a term hardly ever used in the Frontside category, this a fun and very affordable ski.
In pointing out what should be obvious, that also means you probably don’t hit the gates and definitely skip arcing the ice patches if the Majick sounds like your kind of ski. A little bit of mellow restraint can be a good thing when you just want to lap groomers and the a few soft bumps through the day.
