Salomon X-Max X12 Review
September 22, 2016The Good
- Arcs glorious long turns
- And short carves
- It loves to be on edge
- Very responsive
- Rewards technicians
The Bad
- Better for skiers with good technique
- Needs to be driven
- Loses performance when it's not on edge
- More precision than power
- Eventually, there is a speed limit
If you like to carve precise turns at a variety of speeds, and look good doing it, there's no better frontside ski in this test. A perfect tool for technical skiers, Salomon's X-Max X12 can confuse flat ski riding intermediates and rocket fueled racers. These skis are built to dance.
Salomon’s X-Max X12 turned a lot of heads with our testers, providing a kind of precision and enjoyment of performance that wasn’t always found other places in this test. While some frontside skis performed like Formula One race cars, and others like luxurious sedans, this is the one ski that provides the perfect mix of both.
While it won’t set any speed records, the ease of initiation, excellent control, and confidence on hard to soft frontside snow, make this ski a wonderful lift-serve pick.
