THE VERDICT

Compared to the other bibs in this test, the Alvier HS is the most versatile in all temperatures and conditions. Shredding cold powder all weekend in February then converting the bib into pants for a March day of touring under the sun is all within the realm of possibility. The thin material is susceptible to ripping and snags however.

FULL REVIEW

Materials
The Alvier HS features 3-layer GORE-TEX fabric with C-KNIT backer and Dyneema edge reinforcement. After several days of testing, a tree branch succeeded in tearing a small hole in the pant leg, which can be attributed to the thin material.

Comfort
A more athletic, perhaps tighter fit can be expected with the Alvier HS over other bibs in this test. They are comfortable and offer a good range of motion.

Temperature Control
With highly breathable fabric, removable bibs, and 3/4 length leg zips, the Alvier HS is designed to tackle a wide range of temperatures. This bib excels in anything but the absolute coldest day of the ski season.

Features/Functionality
In addition to the removable bib and ¾ length zips which are the Alvier’s main selling points, this model also feature a Barryvox beacon pocket and cuff buttons for adjustability while using crampons. The bib also has belt loops and Velcro adjustments inside the waistline for additional support if needed.

Fit
The Alvier HS maintains a more snug, athletic fit than the other bibs in this test, which makes them ideal for climbing in crampons. The leg length and waist are true to size but bulky layering underneath may be problematic.
