K2 Maysis Review
February 29, 2016The Good
- Good value
- A great balance of tech and user-friendliness
The Bad
- Boa is tough to play with underneath snowboard pants.
- Boa can loosen
K2 claims the Maysis is the “Best Selling Boa Boot”. If it is, it may be because it feels good from the get go. Just slide your foot in and it’s very comfortable. Riders who suffer from ankle issues appreciated how easy it is to open up boot and liner, so they didn’t have to force their foot into Maysis, saving them discomfort. Once on, the Maysis is not as comfortable as the much ballyhooed Nike snowboard boots, which were discontinued this year, but close. Available in four colors, it’s on the stiffer side of the spectrum. Ride gives it a 7 out of 10 on the stiffness scale. Match that with a double boa lace system and cinching down the Maysis is simple. On the mountain, it was quick to react and the power transfer was admirable.
Fit/Comfort
Easy to get into and out of, it was also very comfortable to ride in all day.
Weight/Response
Mid-weight, it felt good underfoot. Slightly stiffer than most, the response is quick.
Durability
Better than most, the Maysis showed minimal wear after testing.
Versatility
Soft enough for park riders who want a stiffer boot, the Maysis is an all-mountain boot that’s geared towards riders who want serious support and less flexibility from their snowriding footwear.
Traction
The Maysis had better than average traction on icy road and parking lots as well as sidecountry hikes through the snow.
