Hoka Rincon 3 Review

The Good
lightweight breatheable high energy returnThe Bad
The Hoka Rincon 3 is a lightweight, neutral cushioned trainer from Hoka. The shoe has a ton of cushioning that doesn’t really add to the overall weight of the shoe. Hoka has this equation down like a science at this point. There was solid energy return on this shoe. I hate to say it, but at this point I (and probably many runners) am getting spoiled by carbon-plated shoes. The Rincon 3 was still a fun ride and had plenty of responsiveness throughout the run without offering a carbon plate through the midsole. I think some of this is from the shape of the shoe. The rocker technology ensured a really smooth ride and easy transitions during the run.
The upper was lightweight and breathable.
Given how lightweight it is, I think some runners could grab this for speedwork or tempo runs. Given its amount of cushion and relative lightweight, I really wouldn't be surprised to see some of these on the startline for longer races. For me personally, though, I would reserve these for easy/recovery days, long runs, and maybe some lighter tempo runs.
