World’s Lightest 4-Buckle AT Boot

World’s Lightest 4-Buckle AT Boot

A four-buckle touring boot is pretty much a must if you care about the quality of your skiing on the way down, especially if you’re on wider boards. The drawback? Weight. It’s hard to engineer a powerful boot that can also be called lightweight with a straight face. Garmont looks like they might be setting a new bar. According to Stephen Regenold over at the GearJunkie, the Cosmos, set to debut in mid-2012, has a four-buckle design but weighs just 3.1 pounds (50 ounces) for men (the women’s version, the Celeste, weights 44 ounces). That should give it some extra power to offset the lighter-weight construction. Our AT boot tester, Jeff Burke, will be giving these a full field test in the upcoming months. Stay tuned.

Thanks to the GearJunkie for the nice scoop.
