The Cosmo Air Pad Gets Airier

Ounce-counting backpackers take note: this spring Nemo will introduce the new Cosmo Air Lite sleeping pad ($131), which reduces the weight of their best-selling Nemo Air by six ounces without sacrificing any of the much-adored comfort. By marrying the ultralight 20D poly fabric from their Zor line of sleeping pads to the Cosmo’s horizontal baffles, you get three inches of plush comfort that inflates easily (thanks to the built-in foot pump) and packs down into a small, one-pound package. A Primaloft-insulated model will also be introduced for all-season warmth. Product iteration is an inevitable consequence of the industry, and this is how it should be done. —Nathan Borchelt
