Black Friday is here, and with it comes some fantastic deals on outdoor gear. Some of our favorite brands are holding sales that can save customers hundreds of dollars, not only on gifts for others this holiday season, but on items they’d like to add to their own gear closets as well. But if you want to take advantage of these big discounts, you had better act fast. While some of these sales will last all the way through to Cyber Monday, many will end today. Here are some of the best that we’ve seen.
The North Face
The North Face has put several jackets and pairs of winter boots on sale at substantial savings. Just how big are the discounts? The men’s Carto Triclimate Jacket typically sells for $240, but it is on sale today for just $169.99. Similarly, the Thermoball Utility Boot for women normally sells for $140, but for Black Friday it has been marked down to just $99.99.
Mountain Hardwear is throwing a big sale to kick off the holiday season, with nearly everything in their online store marked down by 25%. That inlcudes the company’s very popular Ghost Whisperer Jacket, which normally sells for $350, but is discounted to $262.50.
Columbia Sportswear is offering some great “doorbuster” deals on some of their top gear for Black Friday as well. Most of the products that fall into this category are discounted by as much as 50%, saving consumers lots of money on some great products. For instance, the Women’s Tectonic II softshell is now selling for $64.99, whihc is half off its normal $130 price tag.
Keen is offering a one-day deal on all of its shoes sitewide. Customers who shop today will receive a 20% discount on all orders of $150 or more. That’s a saving of at least $30 on some great shoes for use in the outdoors.
The leader in solar energy and portable power for outdoor adventue, Goal Zero is having a big Black Friday sale as well. Shoppers will find discounted prices on a number of GZ products, including 25% off their awesome Torch 250 Flashlight, free lamps with the purchase of a Yeti Generator, and a $500 discount on a Yeti 1250 Solar Kit.
Icebreaker uses merino wool to make some of the best outdoor apparel around, and right now they’re having a sale that takes 20% some of their top products. As we head into the winter months, this is certainly gear that will come in handy.

Nike is running a big promotion on its website to celebrate the start of the holiday season as well. The Black Friday Collection includes more than 80 products, all marked down to help save you some cash and get your hands on items that your friends and famioly will love.
If you’re looking to upgrade your camera equipment, today may be the perfect day to do just that. B&H Photo, one of the top online outlets for photography equipment, is holding their annual Black Friday event with everything from lens, to camera bodies, to tripods, tablets, and computers on sale, many of which at big discounts.
ExOfficio makes all kinds of great clothes for adventure travel, but their underwear just might be their most popular product. As we all know by now, REI has chosen to #OptOutside today, and as a result each of its brick and mortar stores, and its website, are completely closed down for Black Friday. But the stores and webstie will reopen tomorrow – Saturday, November 28 – and will no doubt have some great post-Black Friday sales to share.
