Runner’s World releases Fall Shoe Guide

Runner’s World certainly has the broadest running shoe test out there. The mag’s new Fall 2012 Shoe Guide features reports on a whopping 23 of the top shoes hitting the market this month.

If you’re looking to replace your tattered kicks this season, the guide is a good place to start. Jeff Dengate and Martyn Shorten do a pretty good job of condensing their reports into short, digestable blurbs—easy to skim and not too wonky. It feels like a quick visit to a specialty running shop with a really sharp staff.

The reports are most helpful if you really know the previous versions of the shoes—if you aren’t up to speed on the Adidas Supernova Sequence 4, it won’t help you much to know that version 5 is a “satisfying update.” But even for first timers looking to branch out with a new shoe, the Bottom Line summaries of each shoe are worth skimming—short, sweet one-liners of what the shoe does best, or what qualities make it stand out, and what it feels like.
