As first spotted by our friends at Gearjunkie.com, Rockshox aims to reinvent the mountain bike suspension fork with their RS-1, which inverts the fork to anchor the air shocks closer to the axle. The chassis design integrates the steerer tube, crown, and legs into a single carbon mainframe, with a reconfigured interface between the hub and the dropouts, all at a fairly light 1,666 grams. A few caveats: currently it’ll only be available for 29ers (a minor point), and it’ll retail for a whopping $1,865 (a more major consideration).
