Nepal Earthquake: How to Help

This is an early list of organizations coordinating efforts to aid the people if Nepal who have been affected by the devastating earthquake that stuck the city on April 25. Tweet us others at @gearinstitute.

1. International Medical Corps

IMC Capture

International Medical Corps’ Emergency Response team leader Sean Casey is on the ground in Nepal and coordinating the organization’s emergency response. “The earthquake was incredibly powerful and the devastation in Kathmandu is considerable. Our team is gathering supplies and heading west towards the epicenter of the quake to provide support.” International Medical Corps is sending additional staff and resources to support relief efforts.

2. Save the Children

Save the Children has launched a disaster response on the ground in Nepal with emergency assistance. Save the Children has worked in Nepal since 1976 and have extensive programs throughout the country.

3. Oxfam America

Oxfam aid workers are on the ground, preparing to launch a rapid response to ensure food and water reaches those in need.

4. International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

Red Cross

Volunteers and staff of Nepal Red Cross Society are working on the ground assisting in search and rescue efforts and administering first aid to the injured. The Red Cross in Nepal has extensive experience in responding to natural disasters and plays a lead role in the government’s contingency plans for such disasters. The Red Cross blood bank in Kathmandu is also providing blood supplies to the main medical facilities in the capital.
