A Harness In Your Pants

If you’re the type that might find youself rappelling at any given moment, Mammut has your back. This spring the Mastodon will introduce the Realization Pants ($230), which integrates a full climbing harness into the trousers. As with their Realization Shorts, the harness uses an innovative split-webbing technology along with an elastic insert for the stretch you need. The pants also offer a bit more protection and warmth while on the rock, and should be ideal for climbing in early spring and late fall. We love the stylish contrast stitching, and relatively svlete appearance. You could almost get away with sporting these pretty much anywhere—except for the climbing-specific features like gear loops off each hip and an external chalk bag attachment off the back of the waistband.
