Icelantic’s New John Denver Ski

Icelantic’s New John Denver Ski

Colorado-based Icelantic Skis is honoring the man who invented the Rocky Mountain High with a signature John Denver ski.

Built on the chassis of the brand’s Nomad (with all mountain 140/105/130 dimensions), the ski is available in lengths of 161, 171 and 181 centimeters, with a price tag of $700, and topsheet art featuring the bespectacled folk rock star standing in a field.

“The estate of legendary singer and songwriter John Denver is proud to team up with Icelantic to launch the first-ever John Denver signature custom ski,” said Icelantic’s Annelise Loevlie. She added that the artwork was based on a photograph of Denver, and created by in-house artist Travis Parr.

In an interview with Gear Institute contributor Colin Bane in Westword Magazine, Parr said, “It’s the fifteenth anniversary of John Denver’s death, and the John Denver Estate had an idea to release a limited-edition ski, since skiing in Colorado was one of the things he loved most.”

Icelantic is billing the boards as, “A one-ski quiver. Able to tackle any and every snow condition, at ease among ridges and peaks, and eager to carve up any terrain, the Nomad is an exceptional tool of versatility.”
