If there’s one thing we can get behind at the Gear Institute it’s professional gear testing in the lab. We’d love to see more of this kind of thing in the gear testing industry—objective testing of products to help consumers cut through the manufacturer’s spin and provide straight, credible data on how well the product performs.
In that vein, we’d like to give high fives to the team over at Velo News for their bike lab testing. Here’s a good example of the kind of diligence that crew puts into their reports. They put four bikes to the test on the road and in the lab—testing for factors like vibration dampening and torsional rigidity—and here’s their full report.
