Multitools Get Slim

Gerber MP1 Multitool 2
The old Swiss Army knife went on steroids back when the multitool was first introduced. And, during the expected manufacturer rush to give you everything and the kitchen sink in a pocket tool, the tools quickly became performance-enhanced devices that provide more utility than you’d ever actually need. Gerber has put those uber-tools on a diet with their MP1, claiming that their new design delivers what you need most often—and nothing else. It includes 12 professional-grade components, including high carbon steel pliers, three blades and three screwdrivers with a magnetic bit driver, and a pry bar bottle opener in a butterfly design with spring-loaded jaws, all cast in high-quality carbon steel. The MP1 also looks sleek, with a textured handle to provide grip when your hands are wet. At eight ounces, it’s fairly light, and with a closed length of 4.38 inches it should stash pretty easily. At $115, the price is a bit dear, but Gerber’s lifetime warranty means it’ll be around for a long time.
