Volkl Yumi Women’s Skis – 2014/2015 Review
September 15, 2014The Good
- Stable
- Versatile
- Responsive playful
The Bad
- Stiffer tails mean it is sometimes hard to get out of a turn
- Not as much float as other skis in this category
Wonderful grip, stability and responsiveness make the Volkl Yumi a great pick for hard snow conditions. A lack of float hurt it in terms of cut up snow performance and versatility.
Volkl’s Yumi offered a standout performance in the areas of carving and hard snow versatility. Easy to intitiate, testers said it was fun to charge in chutes and bumps, and that even late in the day, its reliable responsiveness gave their legs extra energy.
This is a top pick for East and West Coast skiers who want a reliable, exciting ski for typical lift-served conditions. Its lack of float and stiffer tail performance, which does not allow for much schmear action, mean that when the powder does come–and it will, you’ll want to grab a different ski.
