THE VERDICT

The Scott Off-Grid utilize the company’s “Fit System” customization feature that helps create a more comfortable, effective fit. A better fit also improves performance: less wind, better ventilation, and no gaps. The lens I tested provided good contrast but suffered in bright sunshine or low light. On the bright side, this lens did not fog. The field of view is not exceptional for this mid-size frame. Unfortunately, the lens scratched on a tree run after a few days of testing. Overall, the “Fit System” is an amazing development while other features of the goggle are standard.

FULL REVIEW

Scott’s Off-Grid is a single lens, mid-size goggle with an adjustable “Fit System” with four distinct settings on each side of the goggle to provide a customized fit.

Venting/Fogging
Foam venting on the Scott Off-Grid encompasses the entire frame, which allows for great ventilation without too much wind inside the goggle. There were no fogging issues with the Off-Grid, even in extreme conditions.

Field of View
The mid-size frame of the Off-Grid stands a couple inches off the face and this decreases the field of view. With so many goggles boasting great peripheral vision, the Off-Grid falls short of the pack in this area.

Lens Quality & Options
The “black chrome” lens tested performed well in a variety of conditions but was not great in bright sunshine or low light. It is a high-quality lens with a clear view. Ideally, a goggle at this price point would include multiple frames but the Off-Grid only comes with one.

Frame and Construction
The Off-Grid Fit System sets this goggle apart from the pack. Four different settings on each side (left & right) of the goggle allows a customized fit that results in a better match to each user’s face. The frame is versatile and well constructed. It feels solid and durable.

Fit
Again, the Fit System makes the difference. This frame was also a good fit inside both helmets tested.
