The Good

  • Good multi-turn ski
  • Easy to engage, and finish
  • Fun!
  • Lots of energy
  • Solid stability

The Bad

  • Probably not a true 'frontside' ski
  • Other skis in this category held better at higher speeds
  • Not as precise on groomed
  • Some testers thought it felt heavy
  • And with a little less edge hold
THE VERDICT

Nordica's GT 80 TI EVO is an exciting, multi-faceted ski that actually performed better on all-terrain than it did in this category on the groomed. If you want a groomer than can also get off the corduroy, then check it out. There are strong pure groomed skis in this category.

FULL REVIEW

Nordica GT 80 TI EVO felt like a breath of fresh air in the Frontside category, grabbing testers attention with its multi-turn ability (moving from slalom to GS-style turns in an instant) and with the proficiency it exhibited on skied up off-piste as well. This is a fun, versatile ski.

That versatility comes at some slight expense, however, as there are several ‘purer’ Frontside skis in this category. Some testers felt that the GT 80 had diminishing performance once they tried to treat it like a true carving, or race ski. We feel this ski is a great bet if you are looking for a prepared snow ski that still mix it up in the bumps and windblown once in awhile.
