Shoulder Room
54 inches wide is a lot of room for two people. It’s only a couple inches narrower than some lightweight three-person tents. Decent sized vestibules help make it feel even roomier. We wouldn’t mind a little more elbow room; sitting up the sloped walls made it feel a little less roomy than its 32 square feet would suggest.

Packability
At a five-pound trail weight, the Galaxi doesn’t compete with the lightest tents out there, but it isn’t overweight either. And despite its poundage, it packs down quite small—smaller than other tents in the same weight range.

Set Up
The hubbed poles come out of the bag in a confusing mess of limbs. It always took us a few minutes to untangle and set up. We worried about stepping on and snapping something in the chaos, but the aluminum poles stood up to the abuse. Once the pole was assembled the tent went up fast and easy.

Weatherproof
The fly drapes low to completely cover the mesh body for full protection even in blustery weather. One tester took it winter camping and found it did fine. The nylon floor is deeper than the average three-season tent, which reassured us as the ground around our campsite turned into a swamp after a serious rain storm. But, like the Optic, the fly door zips up too high or isn’t propped out far enough away from the tent leaving the interior exposed to drips and rain—not cool.

Features
Two large doors and associated vestibules are always appreciated. There are all the usual pockets and door storage options—magnetic in this case, which work well and are easy to use, so we found ourselves using them more. Venting is excellent. The tent is already mostly mesh. To kick up more of a breeze crack two vents or prop the bar over the door to open the fly a bit without exposing the tent. A neat pocket on the ceiling is meant for holding a headlamp and diffusing the light into an even glow.

Value
Like MH Optic this is a budget friendly priced tent. $250 for a solid shelter like this represents good value. Consider that it is a pound lighter than the Optic and it is an even better deal. Lots of conveniences add value, as does including a footprint and repair kit, usually extras.
