The Good

  • Easy to turn
  • Predictable
  • Can satisfy a wide range of skiers
  • Playful and forgiving
  • Fun all day ski

The Bad

  • Does not excel in any one condition
  • Not for high speeds
  • Prefers off-piste to hardpack
  • Other skis in this category offer better edge hold
  • Does not offer any groundbreaking technology
THE VERDICT

K2's Pinnacle 88 is aimed right at the middle of the All-Mountain market, where it scores a direct hit. It's easy to ski, built to deliver the same performance in varied terrain, with equal consistency on or off-piste. It is harder to control on boilerplate snow and at increased speeds.

FULL REVIEW

Let’s be blunt: this is a lot of ski at the price. The Pinnacle 88 delivers ease of turn initiation at a variety of speeds in varied conditions. It’s easy to ski no matter what your ability. And the lightweight core and rockered tip and tail mean you can maneuver this ski no matter how far you get in over your head.

If you know the specific terrain, turn shape or rate of speed you want to master this winter, then check out the rest of the test. If you want a turnkey entry to the mountains, this might be it.
