iBattz BattStation Optimus 20400 Review
July 22, 2016The Good
- Outstanding battery life
- Outstanding power per size
The Bad
- Average durability
- Relatively slow discharge rate
- Pricy
The iBattz Optimus 20400 proved outstanding real-world battery life, power per cubic inch, and power per ounce of any device tested. Even with only better than average durability, the iBattz Optimus 20400 costs more, but in our opinion, it’s worth it.
Battery Life
Battery life for the iBattz BattStation Optimus 20400 is simply incredible. In our tests, the BattStation delivered over 1248 minutes of power during our intensive, ‘real world’ tests — easily beating several other larger, heavier, and higher-rated competitors, and ranking #1 among all portable chargers tested. Discharge rates, however, are not as stellar, as the BattStation charges at only 62% of the average speed of competitors.
Power/Size
The iBattz BattStation Optimus 20400 also ranked #1 among all portable chargers tested so far (all sizes) for power per cubic inch, and power per ounce. In fact, the BattStation is so powerful that it actually delivers 25% power per inch and ounce than the closest competitor, and over 50% more power than the category average. In short: the iBattz is the highest performing portable charger we have tested.
Durability
Durability for iBattz BattStation Optimus is average. Make no mistake: this is a consumer-grade device, not specifically designed for military-grade impact or water resistance. Still, the BattStation uses rugged high-density plastics, and weathered our durability tests well compared to some lower-priced competitors. Overall it is a well-made device, and well suited for general/everyday use and leisure travel.
Features
In terms of features, the BattStation offers both 1 and 2.1 amp USB charging, integrated power level indicators, and an integrated emergency LED flashlight.
Value
The iBattz doesn’t rank as high as some other competitors in terms of power-per-dollar spent, but is above average for value. Though it may cost more than budget devices, the BattStation’s outstanding power and battery life represent money well spent.
