FULL REVIEW

Sound Quality
The Fugoo Sport XL delivers 360 degrees of sound with 8 total drivers: 4 tweeters, 2 mid/sub drivers, and 2 passive radiators. Bass is powerful and overall sound quality is outstanding, and the Sport XL’s sound frequency range of 60hz-20hz was actually the the widest of any device we tested.

Volume
At 38 watts, the Fugoo Sport XL was by far the most powerful speaker we tested, and it delivers excellent volume. Fugoo’s marketing materials claim 97db, though our tests only registered a maximum of 93db at close range. Still, the Sport XL’s overall volume was among the loudest of all Bluetooth speakers we tested.

Durability
The Fugoo Sport XL is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance. Its design consists of an inner core of that features all of the critical components (speakers, battery, controls), and a removable outer cage built from thick, high-density plastics and a durable fabric speaker cover. Like Chrysler’s K-car platform in the 80’s, this modular design allows Fugoo to use the same speaker technology across multiple products.  The Fugoo Tough XL speaker, for example, is essentially the same speaker as the Sport XL, but with a much more rugged cage.

In our tests, the Sport XL proved to be quite durable and lived up to its IP67 rating. The power and audio port cover is thick, rugged, and seals extremely well. Our only concern comes from the fabric that covers most of the speaker, which appears as though it could tear or puncture under the right conditions.

Features
The Fugoo Sport XL comes with great features, including a built-in 3.5mm (AUX) jack, standard and micro USB ports to charge external devices, Bluetooth 4.0, and an integrated microphone that can turn the Sport XL into a speakerphone. Best of all: the Fugoo Sport XL floats.  Wireless range is also very good and exceeds Bluetooth 4.0’s specification distances by more than 30 feet in both indoor and outdoor tests. The Sport XL also comes with an external power supply, micro USB cable, and an 1/8” stereo auxiliary cable.

Power
The Fugoo Sport XL delivers over 35 hours of continuous music, and sports an 37 watt-hour battery. This is more than twice the overall battery life of any other device tested, even though the Sport XL is not twice as large. Stated another way: you could double any of the competitors tested, and still not achieve what Fugoo delivers in overall power and features.
