THE VERDICT

Fischer's Watea 96 offered up middle of the road performance in a category with several all-mountain standouts.

FULL REVIEW

Fischer’s Watea 96 is forgiving, smooth flexing and quick edge to edge. It also has a lot of energy in the fall-line, encouraging you to make quick, vert-dropping arcs. The problem is that once it gets into a turn, it does not hold an edge as well as other skis in this category. Stability and versatility are not the Watea’s strong suit. Once any of our testers got the 96 into the mid to high-speed range, confidence quickly bottomed out. It also got pushed around in the crud.
