Atomic Redster DD XT Ski Test Results 2016 Review
September 16, 2015The Good
- Impeccable edge hold
- Loves speed--the more, the better
- Super carving machine
- Rewards hard chargers
- Stiff tail
The Bad
- Does not go slow
- For experts only
- Not maneuverable
The Atomic Redster is where a frontside ski meets a Formula 1 race car. If you want to rip the groom like you're trying to beat the clock, then start here. If you want a sunny day carver with versatility for slush and moguls, look at the other skis tested here.
Described by one tester as “the raciest ski” in the Frontside category, the Atomic Redster has power, grip, and stiffness to spare–especially if you like loading your turns all the way through the end of the ski’s tail. Vise-like grip and confidence building initiation into each succeedingly faster turn made this feel exactly like a race ski that had somehow wandered over to the general consumer aisle.
It is not maneuverable. Not forgiving. Not for intermediates. And not for going slow. But man, if you want to charge under the chair like there’s a gold medal on the line, then this very well may be the ski for you.
