Armada Norwalk Ski Test Results 2016 Review
September 16, 2015The Good
- Superior float
- Very playful
- Great of jibbing
- Easy to initiate thanks to the tip rocker
The Bad
- Has a speed limit
- Kicked around in crud
- Felt flat on the groomed
Armada's Norwalk features a soft, heavily rockered tip for suprioer float in the powder and easy turn initiation. Mixed crud and hardpack tend to push that softer shovel around when conditions are less than pristine.
Armada’s updated Norwalk got a slightly stiffer core for more power and edge to go along with a nicely rockered tip that floats in the powder and provides an ease of turn initiation in soft snow. The stiff tail lets you schmear and slarve steep lines, and allows for a nice sense of control to go along with this ski’s playful, fun feel. Definitely a pleasure to ride on what was one of our test team’s best powder days of last season.
That same playfulness can get decidedly over-powered on the groomed, and also at higher speeds, which resulted in lower stability and firm snow survival scores from our more technically-oriented testers. We recommend this for freestyle powder skiers who like to make the most of the terrain and who expect to be skiing in predominantly pristine snow conditions.
