The Smallest Trekking Pole Ever?

The Smallest Trekking Pole Ever?

Easton Compact Carbon 5 Trekking Pole3
Long-distance backpacking is undeniably made easier with a pair of trekking poles, but traveling long distances to that dreamland multi-day hike with those poles often requires inventive packing solutions to get those ungainly poles to the traillhead. Easton is striving to rid you of that cumbersome task. Their new Compact Carbon 5 Trekking Pole ($149) reduce to a modest 15.7 inches. Unlike telescoping trekking poles, the three sections are connected with braided stainless steel cable, which lets the pole collapse more than standard designs without worrying about misplacing parts. Fully extended via a push-button locking system, the poles measure in at 47 inches. Made of lightweight carbon fiber, they weigh a reasonable one pound and five ounces, and come with adjustable wrist straps, baskets, and replaceable carbide tips. The poles will likely perform as well as comparable models currently on the market, but these will definitely be easier to pack before and after you hit the trail.
