Salomon XR Steps into Runner’s World Award for Best Debut

Salomon’s line of XT Wings trail running shoes helped build a considerable following for the brand off-pavement. And now it looks as if the company could be catching fire again as Runner’s World magazine has given the new hybrid Salomon XR Crossmax Neutral its award for ‘Best Debut.’

Boobs Get Individual Attention in New CW-X Campaign

In an ad campaign currently running in magazines such as Fitness, Runner's World and Trail Runner, CW-X is celebrating its support for the individual nature of boobs. In the campaign, an image shows a woman wearing the new CW-X VersatX bra with the words: “Finally, A Sports Bra That Treats Boobs As Individuals.”

Gore Announces Expedition Awards for 2011

W.L. Gore, the Maryland-based inventors of Gore-Tex, continue to invest in expeditions, helping to support the very adventurers who put their products through their some of their toughest tests. Six teams will garner support from the brand’s 2011 Shipton-Tilman Grant Program, named for legendary adventurers Eric Shipton and Bill Tilman, who 80 years ago set the standard for lightweight travel with minimal environmental impact.

Judge throws out Jetboil lawsuit

On March 31, a U.S. District Court judge in Delaware dismissed Jetboil's lawsuit against a group of companies including Primus, the makers of the ETA Solo heat exchanger stove, according to an announcement by Primus's marketing team. Jetboil had alleged Primus had infringed its patent on its popular (and, frankly, revolutionary) design for a hyper-efficient, heat exchanger stove. Primus's stove does indeed look a lot like (and functions very similarly) to the Jetboil stoves, but the lawsuit and counter lawsuit related to the Primus ETA Solo Stove launch seem to be over.

ISPO announces 2011 Outdoor Gear Awards

With more than one dozen separate tradehalls, and literally hundreds of exhibitors, the ispo Outdoor Awards are the most coveted honors of the tradeshow season.

ISPO Ski Awards honor Fischer Vacuum, Blizzard Flipcore

The European Ski Award winners were announced from the ispo tradeshow in Munich the first week of February, with both of the hardgoods awards giving a nod to some radical new technology for the slopes. The winners were the Fischer Soma Vacuum 130, which features the world’s first completely moldable ski shell, as well as the Blizzard Cochise ski, which embraces rocker technology with a reverse cambered core for a completely natural flex.

Bode Skis to 12th with One Pole

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany (Gear Institute)-America’s greatest male ski racer ever, four-time World Champion Bode Miller, put up another highlight reel of a run on Wednesday in the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship Super G, finishing the run with only one pole.
